Based in the the rooftop of Africa, this is where our lighthouse shines from and where the adventure begins. The benchmark and highlight of the journey stems from Uhuru Peak and stretches to the endless plains of the Serengeti. Our 6 Day Tanzania Safari bestows a wildlife galore that is both exceptional and tantalizing at the same time. Short but very intense you will experience the excitement of cultural tours coupled up with an African wildlife safari in the most spectacular parks in Tanzania.
After breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Materuni Village. Upon arrival, you will visit the waterfalls, which are around a 40 minute walk away. On the way, your guide will inform you about the culture of the Chagga, village life and explain the surrounding fauna and flora. The views are truly breath-taking, and with some luck you will see the summit of Kilimanjaro. When you reach the waterfalls, you will see that they are more than 80 meters high. The pool at the bottom of the waterfall is an inviting place for a refreshing swim so don‘t forget your swimwear! After the tour will experience a traditional Chagga lunch, taste our local banana beer & experience the coffee experience. Before you say goodbye, you can savor coffee and appreciate the views of the surrounding rain forest. After the tour you will be transferred to Chanya Lodge for dinner & overnight.
After breakfast you will be met by our driver guide who will deliver a short briefing afterwards we head into the Tarangire National Park for a game drive. The park runs along the line of the Tarangire River and is mainly made up of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. Its natural vegetation mainly consists of Acacia woodland and giant African Baobab trees, with huge swamp areas in the south. Both the river and the swamps act like a magnet for wild animals, during Tanzania’s dry season. The Tarangire National Park is reputed to contain some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. This African national park is also home to three rare species of animals – the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, as well as a few Ashy Starlings. We eat lunch at picnic after which we continue with game until late evening, then drive to the accommodation for overnight.

After breakfast, you will travel via the cooler highlands towards the southern Serengeti and at midday you will reach the plains of the Serengeti National Park. This park is the largest in Tanzania and has a diversity of habitats and landscapes – short grass plains, savannah, thick bush, swamps and lakes. Bizarre rock formations called kopjes dot the grassy landscape where predators are often seen. The Serengeti is famous for the yearly migration when hundreds of thousands of wildebeests and zebras trek to find fresh grass and water. You will spend the night at Tukaone Serengeti Camp inside of the park.
The entire day is dedicated to game viewing in the Serengeti. The areas that you visit will depend upon where the migrating herds are. Predators usually follow closely behind the trekking animals and include lions, leopards (in the acacia trees) and cheetahs. During the short rainy season in November and December the herds move from the hills in the north to the plains in the south. During the longer rainy season from April to June they return up north. As the migration is completely dependent on the yearly rainfalls, the location of the herds may vary from year to year but your guide will know where to locate the animals and where to see them best.

On arrival at the village, expect to be greeted in the traditional manner: plenty of singing and dancing, with participation very much encouraged! There is then the opportunity to learn about some of the customary practices such as fire-making and beadwork. You may also get the chance to meet and speak to villagers in their homes – questions are very welcome and your guide will happily interpret if needed. During your visit, there is also the opportunity to purchase handmade leather and beadwork from the villagers. Once your time in the village has come to an end, you will head back to Arusha/JRO.
